Shin Etsu Chemical Co subsidiary Shin Etsu Silicones of America (SESA) has updated its sunscreen toolbox with additions including silicones offering durable UV protection, high water resistance, excellent skin feel, wider formulation latitude and enhanced SPF protection.KP-545L (INCI: Acrylates/dimethicone copolymer (and) dimethicone), the newest product in Shin Etsu's toolbox, is a flexible silicone acrylate film former in a 2cs dimethicone carrier that delivers exellent UV protection in water-based sunscreens, according to the company. Meanwhile KF-7312L (INCI: Trimethylsiloxysilicate (and) dimethicone) is a silicone based film former in a 2cs dimethicone carrier whose key physical property is hardness, which means superior transfer resistance, while KF-8020 (INCI: Aminopropyl dimethicone (and) dimethicone) is an amino gum blend of ultra-high molecular weight amodimethicone gum in 20cs dimethicone carrier, which functions as a skin conditioner with excellent sensory feel and film forming properties.
