METHOD FOR PROMOTING HAIR GROWTH

Claimed is a method for targeted and specific delivery of beneficial compounds to hair follicle cells using liposomes encapsulating the active ingredients. Particularly preferred methods describe delivery of hair dyes, melanin or tyrosinase to the hair follicle for the purpose of improving hair colour or condition and the delivery of compounds which prevent alopecia or stimulate hair growth.According to the inventors it was not appreciated that liposomes could be used to direct beneficial compositions preferentially to hair follicles. Liposomes are typically formed by mixing dry phospholipids with aqueous solutions giving rise to bilayers of phospholipid molecules which arrange spontaneously to form close multilayered spherules.
