If you take an overall look at the sun care market,it may look like it's been left in the shade.The usually bouyant French sunk by 6.2% in 2004 to euro305m,the UK fared even worse,falling by a predicted 8% to pound210m,and Germany posted an even gloomier 19% droptoeuro225m(Mintel).Only the Spanish put in a sunny performance,with an 8.8% rise to euro236m.Undoubtedly the results were affected by a poor summer compared with 2003's summer stunner.So when TNS found that 70% of the UK population didn't buy sun protection during the year to 12 September 2004,it doesn't necessarily signify that the sun protection message isn't getting through to 70% of consumers.More than 70% of consumers didn't find much of a call for it last year.
