摘要

A range of cosmetics ingredients will face additional screening for potentially causing adverse effects when interacting with the hormone systems of people and animals, an European Commission conference staged on 1 June in Brussels has heard. The research would form part of cost-benefit analysis that the EU executive has launched to define what criteria it should introduce in the European Union (EU) biocides (and pesticides) regulations to determine what chemicals are considered as endocrine disruptors. While no immediate change is expected in the cosmetics products regulation following the introduction of these criteria in the other two pieces of EU legislation, the European Commission has said the reforms will probably end up leading to changes to EU cosmetics legislation.
