Great Lakes shipments of iron ore, coal and stone from the US and Canadian Great Lakes ports totaled 16.6 million tons in October, an increase of 7.6 percent. For the season, loadings of the Lakes "big 3" commodities stand at 119.8 million tons, an increase of 3.4 percent, according to the Lake Carriers' Association, Cleveland, OH.October coal loadings were essentially unchanged at 2,278,708 net tons. Through October, the coal trade totals 33.2 million tons, an increase of 1.7 percent.
