From Nov. 7 to 11, the World Iron Ore Conference 1999 will be held in Puerto Ordaz in the Guayana region of eastern Venezuela, 300 miles or 1 hour by air from the capital city of Caracas. This will be the fourth in this series of conferences and the first to meet in South America. About 200 delegates, including officials of iron ore, DRI, HBI and pig iron producers, steel companies, vessel, rail and terminal operators, equipment manufactures and related groups, are expected to attend. Previously, these conferences were held in Orlando, Port of Spain, Trinidad, and New Orleans.
