Major Miners Vale, Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton made substantial investments in West Africa mines showing substantial interest at Simandou iron ore system making West Africa an interesting destination for mining investments. London-listed African Minerals has announced further significant Chinese investment by Shandong Iron & Steel in its Tonkolili, Sierra Leone, iron ore project, which plans to put USD 1.5bn into mine and infrastructure development.
