Application of Zeolite Y to Preconcentration and FI-FAAS Determination of Pb,Cd,Cu and Zn

Ammonium form of zeolite Y was used as the packing material for preconcentration of lead,cadmium,copper and zinc in a flow injection system,and for their determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry.Preconcentration conditions were investigated and optimised with respect to sensitivity and detection limits.Under optimum conditions,concentration efficiency coefficients for 1 minute loading time equalled: 19.2;12.7;10.8 and 16.4 for Pb,Cd,Cu and Zn,respectively.Mineral water samples spiked with zinc were also analysed and the influence of water matrix components was studied.This unwanted influence was successfully eliminated by optimising the mass of column packing.
