摘要

The misfolding and aggregation of proteins into amyloid fibrils are thought to be the cause of various neurological and systemic diseases.Amyloid fibrils consist of polypeptide chains organized into beta-sheets.In contrast,the secondary structure of the native proteins is dominated by alpha-helical and random-coil conformations.Therefore,the inhibition of conformational transitions and subsequent fibril formation constitute a possible approach for preventing the progression of amyloid-related diseases.
