Evaluation of a Single Oral Dose of Lufenuron to Control Flea Infestations in Dogs

Lufenuron, an oral agent given onee a month for flea control, has been found to be effective against Ctenocephalides felis, the most common flea infesting cats and dogs in the United States. Lufenuron is a ben-zoylphenyl urea that is classified as aninsect development inhibitor with ovici-dal and larvicidal activity against C. felis. The efficacy of a single oral dose of lufenuron in preventing the development of the nest generation of fleas from eggs of adult fleas feeding on treated dogs was studied.
