摘要

Pascal Colombani, chairman and CEO of the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and chairman of the Supervisory Board of AREVA group, has publicly noted that it is quite likely that, by 2010, only two or three large microanotechnology centres will remain. 'Do we want at least one or two of these centres to be in Europe?' he asks rhetorically. 'Of course the answer has to be yes, but as from today, after setting this objective, we will need to equip ourselves with the means to achieve it, by selecting and supporting centres of excellence, by providing for the necessary investments, by making sure there is downstream industrial input, by perhaps helping to create it, and so on.'
