Using a 10W panel for the solar lighting system

Instead of using the recommended 5 W panel in the Solar Lighting System (Silicon Chip, May & June 2010] can I hook up a low unit instead? The reason is that I would like to have an output of more than 2.5 hours (let's say at least six hours] which I believe would require an additional battery or the capability to charge a higher- capacity battery. I am considering this kit as a controller for my garden/ security light. (R. E., via email).
