The Pinhole Camera

Lens-less imaging is one of the oldest ideas in photography and F. E. Ives developed the first plenoptic camera with a series of pinhole images, as described in the text. The simplest camera uses a "pinhole" to form an image, although exposure times are long due to the small amount of light that gets through.
