This simple circuit will operate a car's starter motor automatically when the ignition is switched on. To start most cars today, the key is turned to the ignition position and then to the starter position until the engine has started. By contrast, this relay circuit will switch the starter motor on as soon as the ignition is turned on and will automatically switch the starter off as soon as the engine starts. There's no longer any need to turn the key to the start position.
