Crossing Over: Interdisciplinary Research on 'Men who do Women's Work'

This commentary discusses three themes that are addressed by this collection of articles on men in female-dominated occupations: (1) the characteristics of men who cross over into female-dominated occupations; (2) how men fare in university programs where they are in the minority; and (3) the on-the-job advantages and disadvantages that accrue to men who do women's work. Suggestions are made for additional research, and the importance of interdisciplinary approaches is emphasized.
