Cyclopropane fatty acids (CFAs) found in the lipids of many eubacteria are known to play diverse roles in a variety of cellular events. A precursor of CFAs is a phospholipid, such as 3-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-phosphatidylethanolamine (POPE), which contains an unsaturated fatty acyl chain.
