BEST ERROR BOUNDS FOR ODD AND EVEN DEGREE DEFICIENT SPLINES

A constructive proof of the optimal error bound for three types of spline interpolants with deficiency is presented. The main result is of the form - s(infinity) less than or equal to C(n)h(n+1)((n+1))(infinity), where C-n is optimal and s is a spline of odd or even degree n. [References: 6]
