This article describes the instrumentation used for the calibra-tion of audiometric equipment and how the sound level measurementsare traced back to national/international references. Couplers and earsimulators are crucial for the measurement of the output of audiometrictransducers. Therefore, special attention is given to their specification,application, and testing.
