Human resources, training, and the growing worldwide epidemic of kidney disease: introduction.

摘要

This issue of Seminars in Nephrology collates a series of key topics facing the nephrology community in the current era of growing recognition of the public health importance of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The articles solicited for this issue describe the epidemic of CKD in different parts of the world, different models of care and health care system redesign, research and evaluative frameworks, and the challenges facing training programs for nephrology. Contributions by authors in diverse regions of the world (East Asia, South Asia, United Kingdom, United States, and Canada) have enriched this issue, and thereby have ensured a global perspective on this topic.
