摘要

In recent years the increasing speed and efficiency of machining processes and the shift toward dry cutting in response to environmental problems has resulted in higher cutting temperatures and other more stringent cutting conditions. As a result, there has been a continuing demand for cutting tools that provide higher performance. High-purity polycrystalline cBN sintered bodies obtained using direct conversion sintering are made up of extremely small grains and have no inclusions at the grain boundaries. The superior mechanical properties and heat resistance of these new sintered bodies make them good materials for high-performance cutting tools used for ultra high-speed milling of cast iron and steel.
