Autonomous Distributed Management Mechanism for Computer Networks by Akihiro Natsume, Kenichi Horikawa, Nobuo Kameda, Yoshinori Takenami, Noriaki Kuwahara, Hiroshi Okada, Nobuo Yoshie Recently, computer networks have become so large and complexthat individual network management systems can no longer support entire enterprise computer networks. The authors have developed an autonomous distributed management mechanism that allows legacy network management systems to operate together in the areasof configuration management and faultmanagement. In configuration management, this system allows network operators to create their own domains from an integrated domain using scoping and filtering. For fault management, the system can identify the cause of a fault from a range of symptomsfor each management system, and can simulate fault propagation within the integrated domain.
