Phase Relations in the La_2O_3-TiO_2-Al_2O_3 System

A small amount of LaAlO_3 added to a La_2O_3:3TiO_2 starting oxide mixture stabilizes the A-deficient La_(2/3)TiO_3 perovskite structure. According to XRD and microstructural investigations of samples prepared in the ternary system at 1400 deg C, only the soild solution along the La_(2/3)TiO_3-LaAlO_3 tie-line extends from at least 4 mol percent LaAlO_3 to pure LaAlO_3.
