A pressure transducer has been developed using a metallic resonating tuning fork. The fork has ken mounted horizontally across two pillars which are an integral part of the diaphragm of a pressure transducer. The displacement of the. diaphragm induces an axial force in the fork. The applied stress causes the natural frequency of the fork to increase, The experimental pressure transducer has a linear characteristic over its 6 bar range with repeatability better than 0.1%, and hysteresis of 0.1% of the range.
