Automatic Extraction of Coastlines from SAR Images

摘要

Immense economic value from hosting ports and harbors,aquaculture and other water-dependent industries has made coastal zones interesting to researchers for a long time,and coastline detection is crucial when mapping coastal regions.Cartography,geographical evolution studies and automated navigation require accurate coastline information.While studies concerning coastal mapping date back centuries,it is necessary to continuously update coastline information due to global and regional changes in climate,oceanic circulation and human-made structures.
