During a U.S. House Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation hearing to review the status of Coast Guard maritime domain awareness (MDA) programs, Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) and Ranking Member John Garamendi (D-Calif.) encouraged the Coast Guard to work with commercial industry to identify the latest technologies that can meet and extend the Coast Guard's current missions while reducing overall costs.
