ONR Demonstrates Revolutionary Countermine Technology

Using a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) technology developed by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock, Maryland, the U.S. Navy successfully demonstrated a prototype degaussing coil that uses superconducting ceramic materials instead of copper cables to neutralize the magnetic signature of a ship.
