Sets of hydrophones or transponders placed on the seafloor must be surveyed (i.e., their coordinates determined) before they can be used for tracking. This article will introduce two complementary survey processing methods that work together to produce completely dependable results that are also more accurate than those of other methods. While any method will produce good results with nearly perfect data, these are designed to work in the real world with its problematic data. Both methods have patents pending, and they have been combined into one software package. This is the future direction for survey processing.
