NOAA Scientist Honored for Establishing Tsunami Detection and Forecast System

Eddie Bernard, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory in Seattle, Washington, has become the first NOAA scientist to be awarded a Service to America Medal (SAM) for his work in establishing an international tsunami detection and forecast system.
