Greater Climate Awareness Ushers in New Ocean Era

摘要

Years' ends provide a natural opportunity to assess successes and failures from the previous twelve months.In this space over the past few years,I've catalogued some of the significant milestones and accomplishments both for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and for the ocean community at large.Taken individually,accomplishments like the progress on a global earth observation system,the creation of the largest marine protected area in the world and the development of a presidential-level Ocean Action Plan are all incredibly important events.However,by taking a step back and measuring progress over time,a much more complete picture of the state of ocean science and policy becomes clear.
