AN ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF VARIETAL OF CASHEW IN KONKAN REGION (M.S.)

摘要

Cashew is a traditional crop of Konkan region, mainly grown on hill slopes as rainfed perennial horticultural crop. The area under cashew in Maharashtra is about 1,53,000 hectares. (Annonymus, 2001). Out of which 1,47,000 hectares are in konkan regionwith annual production of about 65 to 70 thousand metric tonnes (Annonymus, 2002). Most of the cashew plantations in Konkan region are still under non-descript local cultivars yielding about one and half to two kg. per tree. With the technological break through in varietal improvement and improved management practices evolved by Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, (BSKKV) Dapoli, the productivity of cashew has been increased substantially.
