Introducing a New Strategic Plan and Integrated Program Assessment System

In last year's Review and Forecast article,we discussed the Ocean Research Priorities Plan and the implementation called for in the Ocean Action Plan,with an emphasis on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Sea Grant College Program (NSGCP)-ini-tiated regional research planning efforts in seven regions-the Great Lakes,Gulf of Maine,southeastern United States,Gulf of Mexico,California Current (California,Oregon and Washington),Alaska and the Pacific Islands.Each region has been tasked with identifying and ranking the most critical resource management problems and associated research and information needs necessary for practical solutions.
