摘要

A new sensing method and instrument is proposed in this paper, regarding measurement of plastic deformation in boat shafting systems. The method is based on the inductive, therefore nondestructive, change of the response of a composite, comprised of resin and magnetic nano-beads. The response is sensitive, monotonic and non-hysteretic, requiring a minimal preparation of the shaft before measurement. Therefore, the proposed technique can be a significant candidate for a new method, instrument and recommendation in naval applications.
