In the temperature below 500℃, EMF of the O{sub}2 sensor with Pt/8YSZ/Pt structure exposed in un-contaminated air with VOCs was influenced by the surface morphology of 8YSZ (Zirconia) and electrode materials (Pt, Au). Also, the EMF was responded to the contaminated ppm-level's VOCs. At a constant oxygen concentration, 21%, the EMF was linearly increased to logarithm of VOCs concentration. The changes for VOCs contaminations of the EMF were enhanced by the over coating with Au layer on one side electrode with Pt. The ppm-level's VOCs resulted to decrease in the adsorbed oxygen density in electrode layer and also in the oxygen ion density on the triple point sites.
