Navy Admiral Takes Helm of U.S.Special Ops Command

Adm.Eric T.Olson became the first U.S.Navy SEAL to command the Special Operations Command at a ceremony in Tampa,Florida,this July.Olson,who had served as the command's deputy commander,was the first Navy SEAL to wear three,and now four,stars.Defense Secretary Robert M.Gates presided as Olson assumed command from U.S.Army Gen.Bryan Brown,who had led the command since September 2003.Gates recognized Brown,who had assumed new missions in the war on terror and assimilated U.S.Marine forces into the command,for his leadership.
