A Towed Body Sampler for Monitoring Marine Ecosystems

Narragansett Bay is a shallow estuary in Rhode Island running from urban Providence in the north to more sparsely populated suburban areas at its mouth (a distance of about 40 kilometers). As is the case with many estuaries, Narragansett Bay is threatened by the demands of conflicting uses of its resources, including shipping, commercial and recreational fish and shell fisheries, aquaculture, urban waste disposal, tourism and yachting.
