The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and China's Maritime Safety Administration successfully completed two days of search and rescue exercises in Hawaii in September. They began with a tabletop discussion in Honolulu, culminating 8 miles south of Oahu where the crews of the Haixun 31, the USCG cutter Galveston Island, and helicopter aircrews from the Haixun 31 and USCG Air Station Barbers Point coordinated a simulated rescue.
