摘要

Friction stir welding (FSW) of as-extruded, nanostructured Al-4.0Y-4.0Ni-0.9Co alloy produced by amorphous powders resulted in a significant improvement in ductility. The enhanced ductility in the welds is attributed to homogenization of the micro-structure during FSW. The microstructural changes include the transformation of inhomogeneous matrix grains to uniform equiaxed ones and reduction of high aspect ratio second phase particles.
