The Effect of Mg Addition on the Stability of Al-Al_2O_3 Foams Made by a Powder Metallurgy Route

An increase in expansion was affected by the addition of Al_2O_3 particles to Al foams but foam stability was only improved when Ms was also added. Enhanced wetting, due to reaction with Mg, enables the particles to be embedded in the cell walls, making them more effective at foam stabilization.
