The morphology of AlFeSi intermetallic compounds present in the eutectic Al-Si alloy was studied. The study was carried out on the Al-12 wt.%Si commercial alloy without any additions and after adding refiners and/or modifiers. A moderate refinement of the secondary P phase was obtained after simultaneous addition of Ti and Sr. (c) 2006 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
