摘要

Trade mission provides opportunities for producers as and buyers to meet face-to-face. The eight-member Japanese "Bean Team" got first-hand information about US soybean production, processing and handling when they visited with Illinois growers, theChicago Board of Trade, researchers at the University of Illinois and American Soybean Association (ASA) officials in early October. This was the 30th year the ASA and the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) have sponsored the visit by professionals fromthe Japanese soybean industry. ASA has focused on the Japanese market for almost a half century, according to Peter Thornton, ASA Asia Marketing Manager. The association set up its first foreign office in Tokyo in 1956, for the purpose of developing theAsian markets for US soybeans.
