Taiwan's Feng Hsin to replace rebar mill

Feng Hsin Iron & Steel, a major Taiwanese mini-mill, will start building a new rebar rolling mill later this year at its works in central-west Taichung to replace an existing mill. The aim is to lower production costs and reduce carbon emissions, a company official confirmed Wednesday. The investment, estimated at TWD 2.3 billion ($73.8 million), was approved by Feng Hsin's board of directors in June. Construction on the mill, which will have a design capacity of 60,000 mt/month or around 700,000 mt/year, will commence within this year and should be completed by 2017.
