Quality seed is a basic requirement for higher crop yields. Seed quality is maintained by taking various steps during the course of seed production, post-harvest handling and seed storage. Adoption of unsuitable method for mustard threshing may deteriorate seed quality considerably. The present study was carried out at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Regional Station, Karnal (Haryana) to find out the effect of different threshing methods on seed viability, vigour and electrical conductivity from seed leachates of mustard (Brassica juncea L.) seeds. Perusal of relevant literature showed lack of information on this aspect.
