In mid-November, the U.S. Senate unanimously approved Senate Resolution 251, expressing support for recycling and recognizing the recycling industry's tremendous contributions to the U.S. economy and environment. ISRI, working with our association partners in the Recycling Roundtable, played a significant role in drafting and implementing the legislative strategy that led to passage of this important resolution. I'd like to express my sincere thanks to Sens. Thomas Carper (D-Del.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), co-chairs of the Senate Recycling Caucus, for leading the effort on this resolution, as well as to all ISRI members who contacted their senators, ensuring that their elected officials heard their voices on Capitol Hill.
