PLASTIC RECYCLING PLANT TO BE BUILT IN FRANCE

New Generation Plastic Inc. (NGP) (New York City) has selected Correze, France, as the site of the first industrial-sized scrap recycling plant to feature its process that uses high shear forces to blend normally incompatible thermoplastic resins. According to NGP, its process gets mixed plastics to form homogeneous mixtures without the need for chemical additives.In the NGP process, a rotor revolves at ultra-high speed inside a shearing chamber that's filled with shredded plastic feedstock. The high mechanical shear forces break the chemical bonds on the polymer surfaces and generate new bonds that act as bridges between different polymers, the firm says. After the feedstock reaches a "gelification" state, it is passed through extruders, filters, and vacuum chambers. Finally, the material is sent through cooling tanks and pelletizing heads, after which it is packaged.
