The headend providers

Headend equipment is the keystone of any video distribution system. Headend vendors have been at the forefront of work into video-over-IP and there are now tried and tested MPEG-2 encoding and transrating solutions available from major suppliers. Over the last two years vendors have turned their attention to advanced encoding technologies -namely MPEG-4.10 and Microsoft Windows Media 9 (or VC-9 as the advanced version of the Microsoft video codec is now called). The leading solutions will be on display at IBC.
