Japanese imports staging recovery

Annual fisheries imports into Japan, which fell during 2000-2003, staged a remarkable recovery in 2004, increasing by 16,65% in value and 4.81% in volume compared with the year before. Last year Japanese seafood imports totalled 3.48 million tonnes and were valued at 1.6.3 trillion yuan (15.76 billion dollar). This compares with 13.51 billion dollar in 2003, 14.08 billion dollar in 2002 and 14.24 billion dollar in 2001.
