In the past few months, thieves have stolen 44,000 pounds of cop-per in Tennessee, 13,000 pounds in Louisiana, and 10,000 pounds in Colorado. They took 13 tons of used beverage containers in several thefts in Georgia. And the stole 32,000 pounds of aluminum in Pennsylvania. The common element in all these crimes? The materials were stolen from scrapyards. Those reports are most likely just the tip of the iceberg.
