Vietnam's flat mills leave prices unchanged in slow season

Vietnam's mills are keeping flat product prices unchanged in July amid slow demand during the rainy season, market participants told MB. Mills had last raised prices by 30-40 dollars per tonne in late July. Top flats producer Phu My Flat Steel (PFS) has not increased its cold rolled coil prices, which are 700 dollars per tonne since July on weak sales, said vice-director Tran Quang. The negative market sentiment has also dampened the hot rolled coil market. Offer prices of hot rolled coil imports into Vietnam in August have risen by 20-30 dollars to 570-590 dollars cfr per tonne, but there are no takers for such prices, said Quang. Vietnamese mills and traders still purchase at 530 dollas-560 dollars per tonne, same as in July, he said.
