Power to the People Chapters!

The volume and complexity of legislation and regulation at the state and local levels has been increasing for years. This trend highlights the need for all ISRI members to strengthen their abilities, as never before, to have their voices heard at those levels. This is most effective when accomplished by those closest to that process.Most of our chapters, either directly or through some other means, have contracted the services of a lobbyist to monitor state legislative and regulatory activities. Lobbyists can only do part of the task, however. Active participation by members is key to any successful effort. Our members' abilities to do the same at the local level (counties, parishes, cities, and so on) have been successful, albeit more limited and usually more reactive than proactive.
