2009 Report of the Native Pinewood Managers' visit to Ardgour and Glen Loy

This year's excursion was a joint event with the Native Woodland Discussion Group to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publication of Steven and Carlisle's seminal work The Native Pinewoods of Scotland. At the meeting we also reflected on the origins of both groups - how the Native Woodlands Discussion Group evolved from the original Native Pinewood Discussion Group in the 1980s, then in the 1990s how the Native Pinewood Managers emerged from this wider church to allow a sharper focus on practical issues on managing these important pinewood remnants. This parallel evolution seemed to work well, and as a number of people were members of both organisations there will continue to be a cross-over of ideas and, no doubt, occasional joint excursions.
